وَ لَا تَکُوۡنُوۡا کَالَّتِیۡ نَقَضَتۡ غَزۡلَہَا مِنۡۢ بَعۡدِ قُوَّۃٍ اَنۡکَاثًا ؕ

“And be not like her who unravels her yarn, disintegrating it into pieces, after she has spun it strongly” (The Holy Quran, 16:92).

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Assalam-o-Alaikum Wa Rakhmatullahi Wa Barakaato Hoo.

Eid-ul-Fitr Mubarak.

The literal meaning of Eid is happiness; in fact, an ever-recurring happiness. Today we have a very good reason to be happy and to celebrate, for we have successfully completed our devotional services during Ramadan. As a result, we have within us a soul which is stronger, healthier and happier because souls thrive when we follow the commands of Allah. Allah being Al-Rahman, the most Compassionate, provides us an annual opportunity to concentrate on the duties which He has prescribed for us in His revealed Book. Today our souls feel well- nourished and well clad because of our carrying out Allah’s commands. By following the Quran, we fulfill the conditions which are conducive for the progress of our soul. It grows weak when we go against Allah’s commands and the spiritual garment with which we had clothed it is shredded to pieces. Our action is comparable to the woman described in the verse of the Quran which I have cited above — a woman who unravels her yarn after spinning it all day and shreds it to pieces. Eid-ul-Fitr is a day of resolve not to shred the lovely garment we have spun for our soul during the month of Ramadan. Let us all resolve on this day that we will not do any deed which harms our souls.

I wish you all a very happy Eid-ul-Fitr. May each moment of this joyous time be filled with love and peace for our Jamaat.

Aameen summa aameen.
