The Editor,
The Light,
Lahore.
Dear Sir,
I was very pleased to read about the decision to put more life into the Light with stepped-up overseas contributions. 1 have the following suggestions for involving interest of a wider section of the readers:
- There should be a regular feature, “Letters to the Editor” carrying views of the readers about the articles published and also suggestions to cater for wider interests.
- There should also be a regular section, “Questions and Answers” in which readers’ questions regarding religion be answered by a committee of experts.
- Space should equally be allowed to “The Light for Children”. It should carry contributions by grown-ups and the children themselves. The young ones should be encouraged to become members of “The Light for Children Society” on a nominal membership fee. 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes can be awarded to contributors of different age-groups. Prizes can be in the form of free “Light” [issues] for three, two and one years, respectively. Or, it can consist of books on religion. Doing so will introduce our children to The Light which hitherto has been a paper “grandpa” reads. It will also help children make penfriends with children within the country and overseas through a “Penfriends” column. I suggest the age of under fifteen for membership.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Pasha Saeed
With this issue we are starting “Children’s own Page” and with the publication of your letter, we have complied with yet another suggestion of yours. We will be happy to receive further suggestions regarding “The Light for Children Society” and the prizes to be awarded to the young contributors — Editor.
