Notes: Islam in Africa

The Christian missionaries are very much upset to see the wonderfully rapid progress of Islam in Africa. In a recent issue of the Missionary Review of the World, we read the news that only recently one of the big Chiefs of West Africa had embraced Islam, and with him one of his Sub-Chiefs, as well.
They have now a regular teacher who imparts religious education. The paper concludes his remarks with the sad note that
“in some parts of Africa, Christ is losing to Islam,”
and finally appeals to the Church for
“white teachers”
to be sent there.
