A Tribute by Maulana Abu Nasr Ghulam Yaseen:
“What else did I see? I saw Qadian. I met Mirza Sahib [Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian] and I was his guest. I should thank Mirza Sahib for his kind behaviour and attention. In my presence many respectable guests came. They cherished for him a high degree of reverence. They were his great devotees. It is a minor instance of Mirza Sahib’s noble character that after a series of acts of kindness during my stay, he gave me a chance to express my gratitude when he said to me ‘I will let you leave only if you promise that you will come again and stay for at least two weeks.’ Even now I see with my mind’s eye his face wreathed in smiles when he said all that. I came back full of the same earnestness which I had when I went there. Maybe, the same earnestness may take me there again. Qadian has lived up to the ideal of (the Islamic injunction) ‘extend the best treatment even to the unbelievers’”. (Vakil quoted in Badr, May 25,1905)

One of our young members. Dr Riffat Shamim, left for Fiji on December 25, 1988 on her way to New Zealand where she has been offered a job in Warkato Hospital, Hamilton. We were informed by her that there were at least three Ahmadi families already living in Hamilton who could form a small Jamaat there. Before leaving for New Zealand she spent two weeks at our Centre.
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him):
“The driving force of his life was his belief in the Unity of Allah and his desire to bring his people to this belief…. He showed deep sincerity and must have been a man of unusual personality and charm, for he not only bound to himself men of different types, but he also kept their devotion….
“… In his private character he showed amiability, loyalty, tenderness towards his family and a forgiving spirit. He lived at the height of his power in extreme simplicity….” (Chamber’s Encyclopedia under the heading Muhammad)
Monthly Lectures & Discussion:
Our members and friends in UK are well aware of our monthly gatherings at 15 Stanley Avenue, Wembley. The Executive Committee has already prepared the Forward Planner covering the period from the 4th September 1988 to 6th August 1989. It has been our endeavour to make such meetings as constructive as possible so that our young children fully benefit from the lectures delivered. The last meeting was held on the 18th December 1988 at 3 p.m. Three small children, Natasha, Habiba, Selina and Azam, recited verses from the Holy Quran and narrated events embracing humanitarian aspects from the life of the Holy Prophet [Muhammad] (peace be on him).
Mr Najeeb Sadiq dwelt on the five fundamentals of Islam focussing attention on the Kalima. He asserted that mere recitation of Kalima is considered enough to enter the fold of Islam. Therefore, it was an affront to the teachings of Islam to declare a Muslim as a disbeliever when he believes in the Unity of Allah and the finality of the prophethood of the Holy Muhammad (peace be on him).
Mr Najm-us-Saqib then recited 4 Persian verses from Durr-e- Samin where Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, laying special stress on the financial sacrifices, exhorts the Muslim youth to rise to strengthen the forces of Islam and carry its message to the four corners of the world.
Sheikh Sharif Ahmad, the new Imam, was asked to speak about the life of Jesus (AS) so that the audience, especially the young generation should know what the Holy Quran, as compared to Gospels, says about the personality, cult and mission of that great messenger of Allah. The Imam briefly narrated how the Quran deals with the time of birth of Jesus, his teachings, his own obligation to his pious mother and the mission of his ministry.
It is a special feature of our monthly gatherings that almost every family brings with it some eatables served with tea at the end of the function.
After the evening prayer the members left for their homes carrying with them something that a few of them did not know already.
