Propagation of Islam in Europe and America

I am convinced that the time has now come when Islam will bring out its true colours and reveal its perfection alluded to in the verse

لِیُظۡہِرَہٗ عَلَی الدِّیۡنِ کُلِّہٖ

“that He may make it prevail over other religions” (The Holy Quran, 61:9).

The Sunnat [Way; Practice; Tradition] of Allah is that only that much treasure of knowledge and subtleties of matters spiritual are revealed as are needed. Thus, this age, the time at which thousands of intellectual objections developed and countless rational doubts came to light, demanded that the treasure of the Quranic Truths and Knowledge be opened up to refute these objections and clear the doubts. Without doubt, it has to be certainly accepted that so many baseless doubts have taken root in the rational people. A storm of intellectual objections rages, the like of which has not been seen in earlier times. Thus, from the beginning, the task of answering these objections with sufficient arguments deduced from the verses of the Holy Quran and to establish the superiority of Islam over all false religions, was left to this age; for, before the evil appeared, it was pointless to describe how to correct it. That is why the Supreme Sage kept such Truths and Spiritual matters hidden and did not reveal them to any one until the time for revelation arrived. True, from the beginning, He had given the news of this time in His Beloved Book. Clearly and openly written is the verse

ہُوَ الَّذِیۡۤ اَرۡسَلَ رَسُوۡلَہٗ بِالۡہُدٰی وَ دِیۡنِ الۡحَقِّ

“He it is Who sent His messenger with the guidance and the true religion” (The Holy Quran, 61:9).

Thus, Now is that time. Everyone is in need of Spiritual Light. So, God sent a person to this world with that Light. Who is he? It is I, the one who speaks to you. In the pamphlet Fath-e-Islam, it has been explained in detail that the help of people of means from amongst the nation is required for such glorious tasks. What greater trial will there be? The whole nation can see that Islam is under attack from all sides. No eye ever saw the disease that is now spreading. At this difficult time, a person has stood up because he wished to show the beautiful face of Islam to the whole world and open paths for it to the West. However, his people have withdrawn their help and, because of ill-founded suspicion and devotion to worldliness, having completely cut off relations, sit quietly. Lo! our people have classified every person with the label of cunning and fraud. Perhaps, so far as they are concerned, the existence of a person of spiritual integrity and honesty, is impossible. Many from among them are devoted to worldly pursuits and, in their eyes, those who may sometime mention the Hereafter, are absolutely foolish. Some are such that they are a little interested in religion but only in its outward form and they are tangled in unimportant religious matters. They know not the real purpose of the prophetic teaching nor what we should do to attain the everlasting approval of our Lord.

My beloved friends, I assure you that God has granted me genuine fervour for your sympathy. I have been given real knowledge of God to increase your faith and to elevate you spiritually. You and your progeny stand in dire need of this knowledge. So, I stand ready to receive your help in religious campaigns with your pure riches. So far as God Almighty has granted him the means and strength, let not a single person hesitate and think his possessions to be more important than Allah and His Prophet. Then, through literature, I shall, so far as it is possible for me, spread among the countries of Asia and Europe the knowledge and blessings bestowed upon me by the Pure Spirit of God. I had been asked what steps should be taken to spread the teachings of Islam in Europe and America. Is it appropriate that some English-speaking people go to Europe and America and reveal to those people the meaning of Islam by speeches and debate. In general, I will never answer this question with a yes. I do not consider it appropriate that such people go as our representatives who are themselves not fully aware of the teachings of Islam and totally ignorant of its superior-quality virtues. Further, they are not fully conversant with the replies to the present-day objections and have not been taught by the Holy Spirit. I believe such action is closer to harm than good. Doubtless, a wealth of objections from the padres has been received by Europe and America. However, their philosophy and nature have their own store of criticism. I have discovered that the present age has given rise to three thousand issues which are thought to be objections against Islam. Creation of these objections is not a matter of fear for Islam, unless neglect by Muslims produces unfortunate consequences. It was necessary that they are raised so that Islam may be seen shinning, from every angle. However, a special person is needed to answer these objections. One who possess a river of spiritual knowledge. Knowledge made very wide and deep by God through the blessing of revelation. How can this task be done by people whose sight does not even comprehend ordinary matters, is obvious. If such ambassadors go to Europe and America, what task will they perform and what difficulties will they resolve! It is possible that their replies may have the opposite affect which removes what little interest has arisen in some sincere hearts in Europe and America. They will then return after a heavy defeat, failure and humiliation. Thus, I believe, rather than such missionaries excellent literature should be sent to these countries. If my people support me body and soul, I want to have the Holy Quran translated into English and sent to them. I cannot restrain myself from saying that this task is mine. None other can carry it out in the same way as I, or one who goes out from me and thus he is part of me….

There is no doubt in it that there shines so much light of truth in Islam and there are so many heavenly arguments establishing its truth that if they are brought to the attention of seekers then they shall convince every single right-minded person. Sad it is that these arguments are not even well-known internally amongst our people, let alone among the various sects of our opponents. Thus, it is to publish these arguments, truths and knowledge that material help of my people is needed. Is there any one from among my people who shall harken to my call! … I am bewildered for which words shall I use to move my people. I ponder, which address shall I use so that my people may understand the condition of my sorrowful heart. O Mighty Lord! Reveal this to their hearts yourself; bring them out of neglect and mistrust, and show them the light of truth.

Dearly beloved, believe with certainty that God exists and that He will not forsake His religion. On the contrary, He helps it at the time of darkness. For general reformation, He selects one person and reveals to him the light of Divine knowledge. Thus, He woke me and opened my heart for The Truth. The solace of my daily life is this that I should continue with this task. Indeed, I cannot live without revealing His glory, the glory of His prophet and the glory of His Word. I care not, and fear not, being labelled a heretic by others. It is sufficient for me that the One Who sent me is pleased with me. True, I find joy in revealing to people all that He has revealed to me. It is also my duty to give to others of what I have been given and to invite to the Call of my Lord all those who, from eternity, were destined to be drawn to it. I am ready to do almost anything to fulfil this mission, indeed I stand ready to lay down my life for it. However, I pray that Almighty God himself may bring to fruition the tasks which are not in my power. I see a Heavenly Hand is helping me. Although, like all human beings, I too am weak of body but I receive strength from the Unseen. I am given patience to bear the pain of my soul. When I ask those, from among my people, who have sympathy for their nation, I do so not because of impatience but because we are Commanded to seek material provisions. Otherwise, my heart is content with God’s blessings and I hope that He will not ignore my prayers but fulfil my every aim and hope.
