A Survey of the Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement
History, Beliefs, Aims and Work
by Dr. Zahid Aziz
Preface
This brief survey is a revised version of an article I published just over ten years ago. It is now being published in booklet form, with amendments and updating, on the hundredth anniversary of the death of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, Founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement, who passed away in May 1908.
This study provides a summary of the history, beliefs, aims and work of the Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement. It covers similar ground to some of our Movement’s earlier publications, but is written from a more modern perspective, connecting earlier issues with recent developments, and bringing the treatment up to date with later events.
Since the time when the original article was first published, the work and approach of the Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement in its presentation of Islam have become much more vital and critical because of the violent events in the world, both in the West and in Muslim countries, at the beginning of the 21st century. The Movement’s role is crucial in creating a peaceful understanding between the Western and the Muslim worlds.
