Jesus, a Human Being and an Apostle of God: Jesus was from the Seed of David, and was not God
About the birth of Jesus, the angel gave the glad tidings to Mary in the following words:
“And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end” (Luke, 1:31–32).
In this prophecy, the words,
the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David,
need careful thought. There is no mention of both God and Jesus’ father David and of David’s throne being given unto Jesus. This verse alone is sufficient to prove conclusively that Jesus was from the seed of David, was destined to inherit David’s throne, and that he was a mortal and not at all God Almighty Whose grace was being besought by Jesus in getting back the throne of his father David.
