The Founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement

A Short Study of the Life of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian

by Maulana Muhammad Ali

About the Book

This is a brief treatment of the life and work of the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (d. 1908), who proclaimed himself a Mujaddid or Reformer of Muslims.

His mission was to defend Islam by the pen and word against the mass of verbal attacks by its critics, correct misconceptions about Islam and present Islam to the modern, in particular Western, world.

This concise biography considers his motivating beliefs and shows how he carried out this mission while facing opposition from both the critics of Islam and the orthodox Muslim religious leaders.

The book also relates his claims of being Promised Messiah and Mahdi to the nature of his reform work, and corrects popular misunderstandings about them.
