The Light & Islamic Review (US), January/February 1997 Issue (Vol. 74, No. 1, p. 14)
General Sir Peter de la Billière, the commander of British forces during the Gulf war, a hero of two conflicts, and described as
“the most decorated serving officer when he retired in 1992”,
is reported as saying the following about Islam:
“There are patches of militancy, but I believe that there is a great deal of good in Islam and a great tendency here to over-emphasize the bad.”
This was reported in The Observer, London, Sunday 26 January 1997.
